Job description

Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced and qualified Sous Chef to join a popular Restaurant based in George.

Responsibilities:

  • Directing the food preparation process and delegating tasks to the Junior kitchen team members.
  • Cooking and preparing high-quality dishes in accordance with the company's standard recipes.
  • Assisting the Head Chef to create menu items, recipes, and develop dishes in accordance with the Company owner's approval.
  • Supervising all kitchen stations and daily setups in accordance with the Company's kitchen standards.
  • Supervising, motivating, and working closely with all other Chefs of all levels.
  • Ensuring health and safety in accordance with the company's set requirements and training courses provided.
  • Being responsible for food hygiene practices and assisting the Head Chef with monthly audits.
  • Ensuring food quality and excellent standards are maintained for all dishes created as per the set recipe specifications approved by the Company owners.
  • Assisting with determining food inventory (stock) needs, stocking, and ordering with the approval of the Head Chef.

Job Specification:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Competent level of English spoken and written.
  • Reports directly to the Head Chef.

Skills and Qualities: In addition to the specific responsibilities, all good Sous Chefs should possess:

  • Good knowledge of all sections.
  • Ability to produce good quality food.
  • Good oral communication.
  • Team management skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Good level of numeracy.
  • Enthusiasm to develop your own skills and knowledge plus those around you.
  • Adaptability to change and a willingness to embrace new ideas and processes within the company.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and deliver quality work, ensuring that all our guests receive the very best standards at all times.
  • Positive and approachable manner.
  • Team player qualities.
