SolidWorks Mechanical Design Engineer - Gauteng

Minimum Requirements:

1. Must have a 4-year Mechanical Engineering Degree, NFQ Level 8.
2. Must have designing experience using SolidWorks.
3. Must have 1-8+ years’ background experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer.
4. Must have working designing experience in 3D CAD modelling SolidWorks, Finite Element Analysis, and electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic control systems.
5. Experience within the Automation industry Engineering systems - advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conceptualize and design mechanical purpose-built machinery, industrial equipment, robotic welding, assembly cells, body in white jigs, conveyance systems, and lifting equipment.
2. Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge.
3. Able to work under pressure and to deadlines.
4. Knowledge of electronic equipment and computer hardware and software.
5. Self-motivated and highly organized.
6. Create and assist with complex project quotations.
7. Plan and lead medium to large design projects.
8. Perform design reviews.
9. Manage project risks.
10. Coach and mentor Junior Engineers.
11. Conduct complex and high-risk designs.
12. Ensure due diligence and go the extra mile.
13. Look at overall department efficiency, digitization, workflow streamlining, and planning for the future.
14. Analyse and check mechanical functionality of systems.
15. Develop manufacturing drawings in accordance with applicable company standards using SolidWorks.
16. Interface with customers, vendors, production managers, and procurement to find optimal solutions.
17. Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
18. Confer with automation engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
19. Work to company CAD and PDM standards.
20. Detailed designs must be done to applicable ISO, SABS, and customer standards.
21. Specify system components or direct modifications of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.

Salary dependent on skills and qualifications and how many years of working experience in the Automation engineering environments and subject to all the requirements of this vacancy only.
