Qualifications
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Energy Engineering.
PhD would be an advantage.
Minimum of 2-4 years formal experience with solar analysis software and data analysis.
Registration with an engineering professional body.
Valid South African drivers’ license.
Ability to travel domestically up to 25% of the time; limited international travel.
Criteria
- Feasibility study and basic design of PV system configurations.
- Solar resource and energy assessment of solar photovoltaic systems.
- Pre-feasibility study of solar photovoltaic installation.
- Support in the selection of equipment during the procurement process.
- Support in the preparation of technical documents for the Investment Committee.
- Optimization of PV system configuration, design of the PV layout, selection, and application of the main equipment of solar PV plant.
- Collaboration and coordination with info data providers and technical advisors.
- Measurement campaigns analysis, support in providing information for the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of the weather stations and sensors.
- Support in the definition of contractual guarantees on the energy production of PV plant.
- Prepare technical specifications and internal procedures.
- Technical support and follow-up activities with Business Development, Operation & Maintenance, and other units involved in the development, execution, and operation phase of the project.
- Technical support for the Merge & Acquisition activities.
- Assist in the scouting phase of new technologies related to the PV sector.
- Use GIS/CAD software for topographical analysis and layout definition.
- Support the Commissioning team during the performance ratio testing period.
- Support the O&M team in the evaluation of the operational performance of the PV fleet.
- Support and collaborate in cross activities aimed at continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of solar photovoltaic concepts.
- Knowledge of PV system general scheme and main components.
- Knowledge of solar resource assessment methodologies and in the design of photovoltaic power plants.
- PVsyst software proficiency.
- Statistics knowledge.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office and GIS/AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of Python would be an advantage.

Salary:
R900 ctc – R920 ctc per annum.
