Job Overview

As a Software Developer II (Full Stack), you will be part of an exciting journey in Cape Town. In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in shaping the future of our clients' products by understanding and defining requirements, designing and implementing enterprise architecture, and developing innovative solutions.

With a focus on both front-end and back-end development, you'll have the opportunity to work on medium to large-scale projects, collaborating with stakeholders and mentoring junior developers.

Responsibilities

1. Understanding the product goals and related strategy and communicating with stakeholders (including clients) to clarify and define requirements.
2. Researching, designing, implementing and maintaining enterprise and business architecture.
3. Developing and/or selecting critical components of the overall solution.
4. Specifying and designing medium to large and/or moderately complex to complex systems.
5. Designing, coding, testing, correcting and documenting new and amended software components from agreed specifications, and agreed subsequent iterations, using agreed standards and tools.
6. Assisting with the effective allocation of tasks to team members, including coaching and mentoring less experienced developers and/or graduates.
7. Participating in the review of own work and that of others.
8. Analyzing business processes to identify potential alternative and new approaches, including automation, cost assessment, benefits, and change impacts.
9. Assisting with the definition and management of business goals and the scoping of medium to large or relatively complex changes.
10. Thoroughly documenting and supporting software components that are deployed and will participate and/or lead in all facets of the software life cycle.
11. Acting as a point of contact for technical issues, creating documentation and monitoring service levels.

Core Qualifications and Experience

1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent.
2. Additional skills: PL/SQL, Analytical queries, JQuery, Bootstrap, and PHP.
3. At least 7 years experience in a similar position (progressive career development into a senior front-end or back-end development).
4. Experience of dealing with relevant stakeholders, building strong relationships with decision-makers, influencers, and clients.
5. Experience of delivering consultancy type projects, whether within a consultancy or as an internal business team.
6. Experience of IT in a complex business environment with the ability to translate technical concepts into business terms.
7. Experience of developing and implementing relevant strategies in a multi-supplier environment, managing third-party services.
