2. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Responsible for project-specific stakeholder engagement functions and community investment programmes in the Western Cape, Excelsior in and around its two districts (Overberg and Langeberg). The Social Development Co-ordinator will ensure that stakeholder engagement processes are developed and implemented in a planned, proactive and strategic manner, so that community risks are avoided and managed and relationships with beneficiary communities remain positive, or at the very least, remain stable.
3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Stakeholder Engagement
- Develops project specific stakeholder engagement plans (“SEP”) that align to Biotherm Operations and Maintenance (an ENGIE SA company) Corporate Stakeholder Engagement Planning Process.
- Manages the mapping of stakeholders and execution of stakeholder engagements.
- Identifying and analysing relevant and appropriate partners and stakeholders.
- Building strong working relationships with key partners, NPOs & other stakeholders.
- Preparing and conducting community & stakeholder feedback meetings.
- Responsible for overseeing the implementation and maintenance of the community grievance mechanism.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate records of all stakeholder meetings.
- Manages the compliance of all community stakeholder related requirements and processes.
- Responsible for reporting back to management on stakeholder engagement.
- Acts as a point of contact for the local communities.
Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) Economic Development (ED) Reporting
- Assists the ED team practitioners with any information and data gathering for REIPPPP ED reporting.
- Responsible for Annexure B reporting on relevant SED and EnD projects.
Socio-Economic Development (SED)/ Enterprise Development (ED) Implementation
- Assists the ESG team in the design and implementation of a long-term SED & EnD strategy.
- Identifies & designs sustainable initiatives that support the long-term SED & EnD strategy.
Team Building
- Develops and maintains relationships with all levels of staff.
- Maintains strong working relationships and open communication within the team.
Communication
- Creates content for communications regarding SED & EnD initiatives.
- Prepares reports to be communicated to board members, shareholders, and other relevant stakeholders.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- 5 - 8 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Exposure to the REIPPPP preferable.
- Matric certificate.
- Bachelor’s degree in social and/or environmental science and/or development studies advantageous.
- Driver’s license.
- Monitoring & evaluation (M&E) experience advantageous.
- Attention to Detail, Decision Making, Problem Solving, Resilience, Teamwork.
5. LANGUAGE
- IsiXhosa, Afrikaans and English.
6. LOCATION / TRAVEL
- Location: Western Cape (Swellendam, Excelsior) Republic of South Africa.
- Travel as required within Swellendam, Excelsior in and around its two districts (Overberg and Langeberg).
