The Department of Social Development, Western Cape Government has opportunities for suitably qualified and competent Social Auxiliary Workers to provide assistance and support to social workers with the promotion of social change, problem solving in human relationships and the empowerment and liberation of people to enhance social well-being under the guidance and supervision of the social worker.
Knowledge: Basic understanding of human behaviour, relationship systems, and social issues; South African Social Welfare context; the policy and practice of developmental social welfare services; South African judicial system and the legislation governing and impacting social auxiliary work; basic knowledge of financial matters related to social auxiliary work.
Skills: Good communication (written and verbal); proven computer literacy; information and knowledge management; organising and planning; presentation and facilitation; report writing; problem solving and analytical skills; client orientation and customer focus.
Grade 1: R – R per annum; Grade 2: R – R per annum; Grade 3: R - R per annum (as prescribed by OSD).
Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. These candidates will be required to do practical and attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments / proficiency tests.
The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department. Applicants from within the Metro North Area will receive preference.
