Job Summary

To build and maintain professional business relationships across a portfolio of Private Wealth clients, by achieving financial targets, proactively acquiring new clients, and improving customer experience, all within the scope of the Bank's risk, regulatory and compliance frameworks.

Job Description

  1. Accountability: Build customer relationships in the preferred market segments.
  2. Own the primary relationship with clients by being the main contact point and work collaboratively with specialists (i.e., financial and estate planners) to ensure clients experience the full spectrum of our value proposition.
  3. Achieve the required contact strategy relevant to your portfolio based on client segmentation.
  4. Build, maintain, and execute client relationship plans to understand clients' needs and hold the primary relationship.
  5. Secure new business through interaction with current and prospective clients and ensure new clients are fully onboarded.
  6. Ensure retention of clients within acceptable targets and apply remedial actions where appropriate.
  7. Consistently achieve customer satisfaction scores as per agreed threshold.
  8. Work seamlessly with the sales support team to ensure they are enabled to support you in your portfolio.
  9. Deepen relationships with customers through meeting their individual needs and achieving required income from each portfolio.
  10. Prepare weekly for performance discussions with Area Manager Coverage to review client contact plans, relationship plans, opportunities, and support required.
  11. Review and negotiate pricing structures with clients in line with the Absa Pricing policy.
  12. Effectively cross and up-sell appropriate products to clients, ensuring compliance with FAIS, FICA, and NCA.
  13. Drive income growth of the portfolio through the acquisition of new clients.
  14. Analyze sales achieved against opportunities in portfolios on a monthly basis and complete a monthly analysis of portfolio profitability.
  15. Protect assets through appropriate levels of Risk and Credit Assessment.
  16. Co-manage high-risk clients' accounts in collaboration with Risk stakeholders.
  17. Ensure transparency and open dialogue between credit and the client.
  18. Assist with the development of high-quality credit client solutions.
  19. Coordinate and drive outstanding client reviews and ensure timely finalization.
  20. Ensure arrangements with clients are within credit guidelines.
  21. Take ownership of the portfolio's risk management through consistent application of the bank's regulatory and compliance framework.
  22. Act as backup for other Private Wealth Bankers in case of absence or peak times.
  23. Keep abreast of developments in the industry to ensure adequate client service.
  24. Ensure Continuous Professional Development (CPD) hours are maintained.
  25. Attend relevant economic environmental business forums to raise client conversations to a strategic level.
  26. Subscribe to relevant segment-specific initiatives and apply this knowledge to maximize revenue and profitability.
  27. Demonstrate willingness and ability to perform to the best levels to align with Absa's Values and Vision.

Preferred Education & Experience

  1. B-degree in Business, Commerce or Management Studies or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification. Five years' relevant Private or Wealth or Premium or Private Wealth Virtual Banking experience. FAIS Compliance.
  2. OR Advanced Diploma in Business, Commerce or Management Studies, or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification with 8 years' experience in Private or Wealth or Premium or Private Wealth Virtual Banking, including 4 years with Non Individuals (Professional Practice) within Private or Business Banking.

Knowledge and Skills

  1. Sales Acquisition and Business Development.
  2. Customer Relationship Management.
  3. Financial and wealth solutions and planning knowledge, including deal structuring.
  4. Relationship Banking Risk management, including credit knowledge around complex structures.
  5. Financial products knowledge with superior communication skills.
  6. Data analysis to enable data-led decision making.

Education

Bachelor's Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
