Shipping Manager

To ensure that shipments arrive at their destinations on time and within budget. To coordinate incoming shipments, oversee outgoing shipments, and negotiate transportation costs with carriers.

Duties and responsibilities:

1. Negotiating the price of shipment transportation with carriers.
2. Ensuring and overseeing the smooth dispatch of shipments from point A to point B on time and on budget.
3. Processing shipment documentation and assessing completed orders.
4. Creating and implementing shipping policies and procedures.
5. Hiring, training, and supervising shipping employees.
6. Acting as a liaison between management, carriers, and shipping customers.
7. Collaborating with internal departments to optimize the flow of orders from preparation to shipment.
8. Documenting processes and reporting to management as required.
9. Evaluating carrier performance and resolving issues with orders and logistics.
10. Complying with shipping industry regulations and company policies.

Qualifications and experience:

1. Minimum of Grade 12 / Matric
2. Degree (BCom) or Diploma in Supply Chain Management / Logistics / Freight
3. Approximately 7 years in a freight-related environment focusing on Imports & Exports
4. 4 years in a supervisory/managerial role
5. Advanced analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills
