Kalagadi Manganese Mine is situated in the town of Hotazel 70km from Kuruman, Northern Cape Province.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
To perform all required statutory work required by the MHSA in terms of the winding ropes and lifting equipment. Maintain all lifting equipment and lifting tackles on Kalagadi Manganese Mine. Responsible for assembling temporary structures on sites. Responsible for all lifting, slinging, aligning and anchoring the machinery, attaching loads, controlling the movement of heavy equipment, and ensuring the rigging is safe for use.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct daily examination as per the legal requirement 16.74.1
- Conduct weekly maintenance on the ropes.
- Conduct front ends, back ends, replace winding ropes.
- Conduct assessment and calculations to compensate against long and short rope.
- Conduct maintenance and inspections of all lifting equipment, lifting tackles, lifeline.
- Comply with rules and procedures.
- Contribute to team performance.
- Participate in and execution of planning.
- Rigging inspections and operations.
- Comply with IMS standards.
- Minimise waste and save costs.
- Team relationships and conflict resolution.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 (Required).
- Trade Certificate as Rigger (Required).
- Minimum of 5 years working as a rigger on a vertical shaft (Double drum, Koepe winder or BMR).
- Certificate Working on Heights (Advantageous).
- Valid Code EC driving license (Required).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & OTHER COMPETENCIES:

- System Skills: Microsoft Office.
- Production License: Crane and Forklift; Generic Engineering.
- Technical Competencies: Trackless Mobile Machine Operations and Lifting Equipment.
