SENIOR PUBLIC HEALTH NUTRITIONIST - Join to apply for the SENIOR PUBLIC HEALTH NUTRITIONIST role at State of Florida.

Position Number: Salary: $53,000 - $58,000 annually

Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a professional position in the Special Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC). This position will report directly to the WIC Director.

Licensure as a Dietitian in the State of Florida is required for this position.

Primary duties include:

  1. Provide nutrition assessment, including gathering of anthropometric and hematological data.
  2. Provide nutrition and breastfeeding counseling to clients.
  3. Assist and guide clerical and technical support staff of the WIC program.
  4. Develop WIC nutrition education materials for client distribution.
  5. Perform duties at the main clinic site or WIC satellite clinics.

The person in this position must demonstrate good communication skills, professional ability to work as a team and independently with clients, and a high degree of expertise in educational and training processes.

Will be tasked to support and promote excellent Customer Service and comply with all standards associated with this position, including adherence to security, integrity, and confidentiality regulations.

The incumbent is responsible for the integrity and confidentiality of data sets under his/her control, certifying participants for WIC in accordance with federal requirements and Florida Department of Health WIC policies and guidelines.

Other responsibilities include:

  1. Documenting all utilizing the SOAP method of Problem Oriented Recording in Florida WiSE.
  2. Providing professional nutrition counseling and follow-up to clients.
  3. Participating in VENA principles, including critical thinking and client-centered goal setting.
  4. Promoting breastfeeding as the normal and preferred method of infant feeding.
  5. Documenting all activities appropriately in the FL WiSE System.
  6. Participating in monitoring QI/QA activities to assure compliance with program guidelines.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

Job duties require the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities include:

  1. Ability to take accurate height/length and weight measurements.
  2. Knowledge of nutritional needs of pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants, and children under the age of 5.
  3. Basic computer skills; operate within FL WiSE for daily clinic function.
  4. Ability to counsel clients individually and conduct group education classes.
  5. Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.

Qualifications:

Licensure as a Dietitian in the State of Florida; eligible for License as a Dietitian in the State of Florida. Valid Driver's License.

Preferred: CLC License within two years of position; bilingual interpretation skills.
