Harvey Roofing Products is looking for a candidate to inspect the effluent control process and ensure contaminated water is treated as per the specifications, thereby contributing to the prevention of pollution and the production of products meeting customer requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Higher Certificate / Grade years effluent treatment or wastewater treatment experience essential.
2. Must be in possession of a forklift driver's license.
3. Crane license advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Take care to minimize waste.
2. Identify and provide feedback on cost-saving initiatives within the area of control, i.e., chemical usage and effluent water reuse.
3. Ensure subordinates have access to the required tools, equipment, chemicals, etc., to perform their tasks to the required standard.
4. Monitor processes and implement/maintain/improve procedures/systems to ensure effective and efficient process control.
5. Plan the activities to be performed daily ensuring conformance to relevant standards.
6. Determine the need for cleaning metal treatment every week by conducting testing.
7. Ensure that the effluent equipment (Pocket parameter analyser, Multi Probe Analyser, and Oxygen Analyser) is calibrated according to frequency, and report any malfunctioning of the equipment used.
8. Ensure that the lifting tackles are submitted to the Maintenance Coordinator for inspection.
9. Effluent Treatment: Transfer of polluted/contaminated water from sumps, baths, and tanks.
10. Treatment of effluent water in accordance with established procedures.
11. Desludging of effluent tanks.
12. Operation of filter press.
13. Inspect the manholes to check for blockages until the Municipality connection.
14. Inspect the Effluent pans.
15. Prepare effluent samples monthly for Ekurhuleni permit compliance.
16. Weekly monitoring of perimeter and all boreholes for contamination.
17. Collect PPE for Effluent.
18. Effluent treatment process improvement and chemical usage.
19. Ensure that the Maintenance Coordinator/Supervisor is informed of issues experienced with the Filter Press to be fixed, pipes, valves, etc.
20. Check stock (Nitric Acid, Lime, Sodium Metabisulphate, Aluminium Sulphate, SEG G 46) and report to Procurement when running low or when defects are picked up on the received chemicals.
21. Report chemical usage for Effluent to Environmental Specialist.
22. Conduct toolbox talks and awareness training.
23. Conduct on-the-job training and updating of SWMS, Risk Assessments, Impact & Aspects for Effluent, and training of Effluent new personnel.
24. Conduct EIR/NCR or incident investigation for Effluent staff.
