Senior Travel Designer (Inbound) - Claremont / Constantia (Hybrid)

Luxury Travel Company providing Luxury African Safaris is looking for an experienced Senior Travel Designer. Offices based in Claremont / Constantia; working hybrid (3x office days a week).

The Senior Travel Designer is responsible for driving sales growth while ensuring optimal profit margins. This role involves nurturing strong relationships with agents, delivering exceptional customer service, and designing bespoke itineraries that exceed client and agent expectations. The position requires in-depth knowledge of Southern and East African destinations, along with an understanding of regional logistics, to create and present luxury travel experiences that inspire

• Agent Relationship Development: Collaborate with the Reservations Manager to assess sales opportunities and enhance agent relationships. Maintain regular communication and deliver high-quality service to agents at all times. Foster strong, trust-based relationships with agents by understanding their business trends and guest needs, including attending familiarization trips when necessary.
• Quote Preparation & Booking Management: Provide accurate and timely quotes, adhering to our strategic pricing guidelines and identifying upselling opportunities where appropriate. Ensure that all relevant details are gathered before generating quotes to maximize bed nights and profit margins. Understand and meet the specific needs of agents and guests in each booking. Maintain and update booking files electronically. Track and analyze sales performance, monitoring gross profit and identifying trends in agent performance to ensure profitability.

Requirements:

• Matric certificate
• Tertiary qualification in Travel & Tourism or Hospitality.
• At least 4-5 years of senior-level experience in the travel industry.
• Proven track record in customer relationship management and developing travel products and services, specifically in the inbound tourism sector.
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office, email, Internet).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Familiarity with TourPlan, WISH, or other booking/operating systems.
• In-depth product knowledge of Southern and East Africa, particularly Tanzania and Kenya.
• Previous travel experience (personal or educational) is required.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Experience working with third-party agents is essential.
