Purpose: As a Senior Technologist in C&I, you will work closely with the Team Leader - Control & Instrumentation in Midrand and ensuring that all aspects of engineering and service requirements are met across all sites, so that customers identify Proconics as a trusted and critical partner to their business.
Major Responsibilities:
Lead the development, design, and implementation of control and instrumentation (C&I) systems, ensuring that all systems meet industry standards and project requirements.
Provide expert technical guidance during the design and integration phases, ensuring systems align with safety standards and industry best practices.
Oversee the use of advanced C&I engineering software to produce technical drawings and schematics.
Review, update, and approve technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and installation guidelines.
Ensure that documentation reflects the latest project requirements and is accurate and compliant with industry standards.
Guide junior technologists in preparing and maintaining documentation.
Ensure all control and instrumentation systems meet regulatory standards and project-specific requirements.
Lead compliance audits and reviews, providing detailed reports and technical insights.
Oversee quality control activities and ensure the identification of areas for improvement in system performance and design.
Oversee the installation and commissioning of C&I systems, providing high-level technical support to field teams and contractors.
Lead inspections and testing activities to ensure systems are installed and functioning as per design specifications.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues during installation and testing phases.
Lead collaboration efforts with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively to engineers, project managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
Support teams in resolving high-level technical challenges during the design and execution phases.
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in control and instrumentation engineering technology and industry trends.
Lead training and development initiatives for junior technologists and engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Share knowledge and best practices with peers and contribute to team processes and project success.
Qualifications / Experience:
Bachelor's degree / BTech in Control and Instrumentation engineering or equivalent.
Professional Registration with ECSA.
7 years of work experience in Electrical Engineering within an EPC project environment, with a focus on execution phases.
Advanced knowledge of control systems (PLC, DCS, Safety systems) and instrumentation engineering principles.
Knowledge of HMI / SCADA development.
Proficiency in C&I design software and tools.
In-depth understanding of technical specifications and industry standards.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
