Key Accountabilities

1. Contribute to operational submissions to Line Manager with regard to Business Unit Strategy input in alignment with the Corporate Plan and the Target Operating Model.
2. Contribute to Opex Plans.
3. Opex involvement to input into the project scope development.
4. Participate in Capex project and system execution and operational workflows to deliver on functional requirements and avoid on-air disruptions.
5. Contributions of Minor Capex & Opex inputs into departmental budget.
6. Opex contribution to ensure maintenance and systems sustainability.
7. Assist the Specialist with marketable Sound / Video skills ensuring alternative Revenue Streams, e.g., CD Artists Recording, Font of House, Webinars, External Live Broadcasts, etc.
8. Accurate monthly reporting on deliverables (broadcast, recording, production and post production), non-conformance & flagging of potential risks with provided solutions / mitigations.
9. Coordinate operational production requirements.
10. Setup, test and operate facility equipment.
11. Record as per SOP music / choir and liaise with the music producer and / or conductor; for church recording liaise with the church representative and / or the priest; and for documentary / speech recording liaise with the station producers.
12. Setup and operate camera and Live View for News and external broadcasts.
13. Understanding of mic placements and industry best practices.
14. In the field recordings, mixing and front-of-house for all audio requirements.
15. Record multi-layered drama productions with FX, music and different audio streams.
16. Perform recordings in accordance with customer requirements and broadcast standards.
17. Monitoring of sound quality during recordings to ensure compliance with broadcast standards.
18. Monitor for schedule changes as per customer request.
19. Monitor sound / video quality to broadcast standards.
20. Record distributions in line with archiving best practice.
21. Setup mix-minus.
22. Operating digital playout systems.
23. Audio / Visual manipulation of final mix, performed in accordance with customer requirements & broadcast standards (if necessary).
24. On time delivery of production material, within scope & within specifications.
25. Setup and operate Broadcast Communication conferencing with multi-layer contributions.
26. Contribute to the specification requirements in line with customer requirements & Company Procurement policy & procedures.
27. Escalate Risk findings reported with corrective treatment plans.
28. Ensure adherence to OHS and compliance with SABC Company Policies & Procedures.
29. Maintain discipline in accordance with company policies & procedures 95% of assets verified annually.
30. Effective control of all assets falling within area of control and outside broadcasts.
31. Customers served in operational proficient, friendly and helpful manner.
32. Maintain compliance of services rendered with customer request and address non-conformance.
33. Operational assistance & guidance to customers regarding capability of facilities and to provide best operational options.
34. Compliance with performance management policies and procedures.
35. Performance agreements with manager annually.
36. Formal reviews conducted with manager and documented as per deadlines (Quarterly).
37. Ad-hoc operational presentation and training (In-house) provided on an ongoing basis.

Minimum Requirements

1. Sound Engineering Certificate (1 year & above) or Film / Video Technology or Relevant Qualification.
2. Advantage: Sound Engineering Diploma (3 years) (NQF Level 6).
3. Driver's License: C1 (Code 10) with PDP.
4. Minimum 5 years' experience in broadcast environment, minimum of 3 years on Operator level with relevant experience in Digital Sound & Video within live, production and post production environment.
