Purpose of the Job

The Senior Talent Solutions Specialist supports the Group Talent Lead in executing and managing various aspects of the talent management lifecycle. This role is instrumental in implementing talent solutions such as succession planning, performance management, career development, coaching and broader talent development and retention strategies. By collaborating closely with the Group Talent Solutions Lead and other key stakeholders, the Senior Talent Specialist contributes to program delivery, continuous improvement, and the overall enhancement of the employee experience, ensuring that the organisation effectively nurtures and retains its talent.

Employee Centric Delivery

  1. Providing input into the Talent Management Strategy and specific solutions where required.
  2. Participating in the development of career management, succession management, performance management and talent retention methodologies, frameworks, tools and processes, and ensuring alignment to the People Strategy.
  3. Participating in the implementation and monitoring of career management, succession management, performance management and talent retention programmes and interventions.
  4. Participating in the implementation of critical and scarce skills management frameworks.
  5. Ensuring the development succession plans for critical roles across the business and ensuring that development plans are in place and are monitored for critical roles.
  6. Ensuring the identification, development and maintenance of critical and scarce skills talent pools in collaboration with Learning and Development and Reward and Organisational Effectiveness.
  7. Ensuring critical and scarce roles identified in the Strategic Workforce Plan are linked to succession plans.
  8. Ensuring the development and implementation of bespoke talent development programmes and initiatives in collaboration with Learning and Development, People Partners and the Divisional People Teams for all leaders.
  9. Ensuring the development and implementation of retention and development programmes for the talent pool in collaboration with Learning and Development, Reward and Organisational Effectiveness and People Partners.

People (Self, Team & Organisational)

  1. Aligning participation to deliver relevant Talent Solution services to the business.
  2. Participating in the enablement of an innovative, agile and employee centric culture where employees are supported, empowered and valued within the Talent Solution team.
  3. Participating in the enablement of an employee wellness culture within the Talent Solution team to ensure that employees are supported mentally, physically and emotionally.
  4. Participating in the enablement of a culture of open and transparent communication within the Talent Solution team.

Financial, Reporting & BI

  1. Monitoring of Talent Solution costs whilst ensuring service delivery to the Shoprite Group.
  2. Collection and use of Talent data and business intelligence to transform the delivery of Talent Solutions.

Governance & Compliance

  1. Ensuring compliance with organisational and legislative governance frameworks, legislation and standards.
  2. Adhering to governance structures, policies, processes, frameworks applicable to the role.
  3. Ensuring data management processes adhere to continually changing privacy and legal compliance requirements.

Future-Fit

  1. Participating in the integration and effective flow of work with other solution areas and business.
  2. Identifying relevant technology requirements for the Talent Solutions team and ensuring optimal utilisation thereof.
  3. Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in Talent Solutions and related processes to ensure ongoing process efficiency.

Qualifications

  1. Degree in Organisational Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, Human Resources or equivalent - (essential).
  2. Registered as an Industrial Psychologist (desired)

Experience

  1. +4 years in a specialised talent solutions or equivalent role, delivering talent solutions in an HR environment within related HR Talent frameworks, policies, procedures and guidelines - (essential).
  2. Experience within the FMCG, retail sector or similar - (preferred).

Knowledge and Skills

  1. Demonstrable knowledge of Talent Solutions within the FMCG, retail sector - (essential).
  2. Knowledge of HR policies, procedures, legislation and regulations - (essential).
