Senior Systems Engineer - Server, Networks, Firewa

Our Client, a Global tech firm, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join their team in Pretoria (onsite) on a Contract Basis. They offer stability, growth, attractive rates, and a great working environment.

The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for service management activities such as change, incident, release, configuration, availability, problem, and knowledge management. They will also focus on the implementation, maintenance, security, compliance, and upkeep of server and network infrastructure.

Responsibilities

1. Install and configure new base operating systems
2. Patch operating systems and software
3. Manage the availability and performance of systems
4. Design and implement methods of upgrading solutions
5. Monitor availability and performance
6. Access management: Create, modify, and revoke user access control lists
7. Implement and maintain a set of general system controls required to provide the necessary assurance to the Governing Authority
8. Monitor and manage backups
9. Performance and functionality troubleshooting
10. Service management
11. Security compliance (baselines, anti-virus, anti-malware, access control, auditing)
12. Monitor, tune, and configure the VMware environment
13. Monitor and configure storage stack
14. Manage firewalls

Qualifications

1. VMware (VCTA or higher)
2. Any relevant vendor/storage certification
3. Fortinet Certified Professional
4. CompTIA Security +
5. 5 years of system administration experience with Microsoft and Open-Source operating environments, network troubleshooting, security principles, DBMS experience, application and web technologies, identity management, governance, and compliance practices. Must have working experience with server upgrades.
6. 5 years of experience providing input on improving availability and configuring
7. 5 years of experience performing system administration adhering to typical governance controls, including configuration management, access management, change control, incident management, problem management, inventory management, etc.
8. 5 years of virtualization experience
9. 5 years of storage/SAN/iSCSI experience
10. 5 years of firewall experience
11. 5 years of experience in Firewall Security Administration
