7 to 10 years post qualification technical experience in HV power transmission and distribution infrastructure in the power utility or renewable energy sector.
Responsibilities
Planning and design of HV power transmission and distribution infrastructure from 33kV up to 765kV.
Responsible for handling multiple projects and preparing and providing guidance in the development of the engineering deliverables for electrical substation projects including layouts, drawings, selection of substation equipment, construction specifications, and all associated electrical calculations and studies.
Perform necessary calculations and studies including power systems studies on utility and industrial/commercial power transmission and distribution systems.
Development of project design documentation, technical specifications, perform concept and/or detail design layouts, and provide a detailed design package that complies with applicable local, international, and client specifications and standards.
Engage with other project stakeholders and team members and coordinate overall design packages and requirements.
Provide direction and guidance to junior engineers, drafters, and designers.
Ensure design schedules are met including providing regular status feedback to business unit principals and project managers.
Coordinate and review technical contract documents and perform contractor design reviews.
Demonstrate a personal commitment to Health, Safety, and the Environment by following the Company’s Health, Safety & Environment Policy and applying Safety Management Systems.
Identify and analyze design changes, modifying design drawings and documents accordingly.
Manage, attend, and participate in FAT and SAT planning.
Resolve and respond to technical queries from contractors.
Plan and coordinate pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
Attend and contribute to site and project technical meetings as necessary.
Final handover of documentation as necessary.
Prepare expressions of interests (EOIs), tenders, and requests for quotations.
Assist and participate in business development and company marketing activities.
Adhere to the requirements of the Quality Management System.
Participate in continuous improvement of processes and Quality Management System.
Requirements
BSc Eng or B.Eng in Electrical Engineering with 7 years relevant post qualification technical experience.
B Tech in Electrical Engineering with 10 years relevant post qualification technical experience at engineering level.
Professional registration.
ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist.

BSc / Eng / BTech in Electrical Engineering Professionally Registered (ECSA) or candidate (presently receiving registration).
