Description

1. Drive internal and external audits;
2. Conduct safety related audits;
3. Identify latent hazards and carry out risk management analyses of those hazards;
4. Investigate, analyse and identify root cause of all hazards of incidents and accidents;
5. Ensure the operator has adequate mitigation in place for identified safety risks;
6. Maintain the internal safety data system, to monitor and analyse trends in hazards, incidents and accidents;
7. Ensure continuous monitoring system that evaluates the results of corrective actions with respect to hazards, incidents and accidents;
8. Monitor the concerns of the civil aviation industry in respect of safety and their perceived effect on FlySafair;
9. Coordinate the organisation's aviation safety programme and all related safety matters;
10. Cooperate with the training department with regards to safety training of employees as and when required;
11. Investigate all incidents and accidents involving the organisation's assets;
12. Action and distribute all accident, incident and other safety reports;
13. Provide weekly operational updates to the Manager: Aviation Safety;
14. Collaborate with the security personnel to ensure all aspects of the security programme is implemented;
15. In collaboration with the Quality Assurance department, monitor and track aircraft component reliability and service provider audits;
16. Support the organisational emergency response plan;
17. Support the Quality Assurance Manager with compliance related audits;
18. Promulgate safety bulletins to all staff within the organisation;
19. Support safety awareness based on safety issues identified through the safety system;
20. Conduct meetings with all relevant personnel regarding safety matters;
21. Ensure that the safety equipment is in an operable state;
22. Conduct safety risk audits;
23. Encourage, promote, and embody a spirit of teamwork;
24. Assess and optimise the performance of direct reports;
25. Guide, support and develop direct reports;
26. Assist the OSHE Officer in the administration of the OHSE programme;
27. Collaborate and build long-term relationships with key stakeholders (Internal and External);
28. Manage internal and external stakeholders with all matters relating to safety.

Requirements

1. Grade 12 or Equivalent (Essential);
2. Minimum of 7 years' Airline / Aviation experience, of which 2 years' must have been Supervisory experience (Essential);
3. Experience in Incident Investigation (Essential);
4. Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License (Current / Expired) (Essential);
5. Human Factors in Aviation (Essential);
6. Train the Trainer (Essential);
7. Safety Management Systems for Aviation (Essential); Lead Auditor (Essential);
8. Accident and Incident Investigation (Essential);
9. Experience as a Lead Auditor (Advantageous);
10. Experience in Accident Investigation (Advantageous);
11. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook);
12. Excellent communication (verbal and written);
