Job description

Job Responsibilities

  1. Coordination and support for the management of Research Projects across the Institute, including:
    • Project planning and initiation
    • Equipment and research materials
    • Project human resources
    • Project finances
    • Risk management and mitigation
    • Monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and project close-out
  2. Coordination and support for the management of research, development, and innovation, including:
    • Invention
    • Translation
    • Commercialisation
    • Adoption and use
  3. Coordination and support for the management of strategic research collaboration and collaboration opportunities, including:
    • Strategic research partnerships/networks/collaborators
    • Intra-inter institutional collaboration and partnerships
  4. Coordination and support for the management of human capacity development, including support for project staff, students, and self.

Minimum Requirements

  1. PhD in Plant Pathology or related qualification.
  2. Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience.
  3. Minimum 8 approved peer-reviewed publications in Plant Pathology.
  4. Experience in supervising MSc and/or PhD students and obtaining research funding is required.
  5. Registration with a relevant scientific registration body will be an added advantage.
  6. Valid driver’s license.

Competitive remuneration package will be congruent with the scope, responsibilities, and stature of the position. The appointment will be subject to a positive security clearance, and preference will be given to designated groups in terms of the ARC Employment Equity Plan.
