Senior Project Engineer Highly Negotiable Depending On Experience

Introduction: The position is at a well-established process plant engineering and manufacturing company based in Johannesburg, focused on international projects.

This is an exceptional opportunity to work on innovative modular process plant projects in a wide range of industries from Metallurgy to Oil & Gas. The Senior Project Engineer executes and manages engineering activities on process plant projects.

Duties & Responsibilities: The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for the execution and management of conceptual, basic and detail engineering activities for projects in a process plant design and construction environment. Maintaining communication between engineering departments, clients, and vendors is essential.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Being accountable for key project activities, including scheduling, budget control, and technical deliverables.
2. The frequent opportunity to visit project sites, local and international.
3. Fantastic exposure to many new technologies across multiple industries.

Desired Experience & Qualification:

N. Dip, BTech, BEng or BSc Eng: Mechanical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering. ECSA registration desirable. PMP registration desirable. 4 - 6 years experience in a similar role. Engineering design experience relating to process plants including studies, FEED, basic engineering, and detailed engineering. Project and/or packages management experience (incl. budget control, scheduling, and contracts administration). Site installation and commissioning experience desirable.

• Knowledge of applicable mechanical engineering codes, policies, standards, and industry best practice.
• Professional project management principles.
• Standard types of contracts such as EPCM, EPC, and LSTK.
• Standard forms of contract such as FIDIC, NEC.
• Proficient in MS Office - Proficient in Excel / Word / Outlook / Teams.
• Advanced use of MS Projects.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Good interpersonal and training skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrable organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills.
• Good project management and supervision skills.
