Job description

We are a leading company in the security industry that strives for service excellence and quality products.

We require the services of a Motor Mechanic (Workshop Foreman) to join our team in a fast-paced and energetic environment.

The incumbent is responsible for the planning and organizing of the workload in the workshop to maximize effective manpower utilization and cost-effective maintenance and repairs to vehicles.

The main purpose of the position is to coordinate, supervise, and participate in the repair and servicing of all makes and models of vehicles within the Company's fleet (mainly Nissan NP, Isuzu, Hilux, Ford Ranger).

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  1. Qualified Mechanic (Petrol & Diesel) Trade Certificate (N5 / Level 4 Motor Mechanic)
  2. 3-5 Years experience working independently as a Mechanic
  3. 3 Years experience in supervising a team of Junior Mechanics
  4. 2 Years experience in managing a vehicle service and repair workshop
  5. Experience in towing a vehicle using a sling back
  6. Dealt with paperwork in regards to the above requirements

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  1. Computer Literacy (MS Office)
  2. Articulate and able to communicate on all levels face to face and telephonically
  3. Planning & Organizational skills
  4. Ability to deliver against deadlines and/or adapt and prioritize work output as and when required

ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Diagnose engine, transmission, brake system, fuel system, engine cooling system, suspension system, and engine assembly, and other mechanical and auto electrical problems quickly and accurately
  2. Determine priority of work orders and their assignments to personnel; plan, organize, and schedule workflow of Employees, assure timely completion of work
  3. Initiate requisitions for materials and equipment
  4. Maintain adequate inventory of parts, equipment, and supplies used in repairing and servicing vehicles
  5. Monitor tools, tool room equipment, and maintenance and safety practices
  6. Quality control and inspections on all workmanship and vehicles prior to being released from the workshop
  7. Complete and/or ensure all tasks as reflected on job cards in accordance with quality standards
  8. Attend to all breakdowns during office hours and after hours
  9. Test drive and perform quality checks on all vehicles completed by direct support and ensure quality work performed

GENERAL:

  1. RSA citizen
  2. Valid unendorsed driver's license
  3. Own transport
  4. Clear criminal record
  5. Good contactable references
  6. Flexible working hours after hours, call outs, etc.
