Maintenance Planning:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor detailed maintenance plans and schedules to ensure efficient operations at AMRAS.
  • Analyze capacity, resource availability, and workload distribution to optimize planning activities specific to rail and structural steel manufacturing.
  • Monitor and adjust plans based on changing priorities and equipment breakdowns.
  • Conduct regular planning meetings with key stakeholders to communicate schedule updates and identify potential risks.

Resource Allocation and Optimization:

  • Coordinate with production, engineering, and procurement teams to align schedules with material availability and operational goals.
  • Assess historical data and trends to enhance forecasting accuracy and improve efficiency.
  • Identify bottlenecks and recommend corrective actions to prevent production delays, particularly in rail and structural mill operations.

SHERQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality) Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all SHERQ policies, procedures, and legislative requirements at AMRAS.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation plans to improve workplace safety.
  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement in planning processes.
  • Collaborate with SHERQ teams to ensure all planning activities align with regulatory and company standards.
  • Participate in safety audits and implement corrective actions where necessary.

Continuous Improvement and Efficiency Enhancement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in planning and scheduling at AMRAS.
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives and efficiency projects in rail and structural steel production.
  • Utilize data analytics to drive decision-making and improve operational performance.

Team Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior planners, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to align planning activities with AMRAS’s business objectives.
  • Support training initiatives to enhance the team's planning capabilities.

Qualification:

  • National Diploma (NQF 6/10) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Preferably a structured Management Development Program
  • Certification in Planning, Scheduling could be an advantage

Experience and Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in production or maintenance planning within the heavy steel manufacturing industry, preferably in rail and structural steel production
  • Proficiency in planning software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, MS Project)
  • Experience in SHERQ compliance and implementation in an industrial setting
