We are seeking an experienced Senior Planner (Civils and Fibre) to lead and manage the planning and execution of telecommunications infrastructure projects. This role involves the strategic oversight of fibre network planning, infrastructure build, and civils route planning, ensuring the successful implementation of telecommunications networks. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network planning and a strong understanding of fibre optic infrastructure in a team lead or supervisory capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
Fibre Network Planning: Lead the planning and design of new fibre networks, as well as the removal or rearrangement of existing overhead or underground lines and conduits.
Civils Route Planning: Develop optimal and economical civils route plans using various methodologies, ensuring efficient use of network infrastructure.
Site Surveys and Documentation: Conduct site surveys, prepare technical drawings, and ensure the accuracy of as-built documents in comparison to original plans.
Wayleave and Permitting Management: Manage wayleave and permitting processes, ensuring that all project plans are executable and comply with legislative and health and safety requirements.
Material Procurement and Stock Monitoring: Oversee the procurement process for necessary materials and equipment and ensure stock availability by coordinating with service providers.
Technical Accuracy: Ensure technical correctness and the accuracy of Outside Plant (OSP) and fibre network plans and records.
Collaboration and Leadership: Lead a team of network planners and collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and effective project delivery.
Utilization of Technology: Use tools such as GE Smallworld, Google Earth, Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint for project planning and monitoring.
Requirements
Qualifications:
3-year tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
At least 8-10 years' experience in the telecommunications industry, with 5 years specifically in fibre network planning.
Experience in a supervisory or team lead role, focusing on infrastructure build, patching, and splicing planning.
Valid driver’s license and ability to conduct physical site surveys.
Skills and Experience:
Strong understanding of fibre network and civils route planning methodologies.
Expertise in telecommunications network infrastructure design and implementation.
Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and permitting requirements in telecommunications.
Proficiency in using tools like GE Smallworld and Google Earth for network planning.
Ability to research new developments in the telecoms industry and apply best practices.
