To perform the role of senior operator within the Minerals Processing division with an emphasis on flotation. The responsibilities and authorities of the senior operator in the Minerals Processing / Flotation division in relation to post requirements are outlined below.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform routine and nonroutine tests following established procedures and/or modify procedures to accomplish the assigned tasks.
- Complete tasks within the allocated time and plan work for operators to ensure that the overall service goals of the company are met.
- Responsible for reporting any infringements or noncompliances by any other laboratory staff member with respect to allocated work punctuality or any other misdemeanor to the metallurgist.
- Must be able to interpret and calculate flotation data and associated reagents.
- Must be able to set up and conduct flotation testwork independently.
- Must be able to carry out locked-cycle flotation tests.
- Must be able to calculate reagent dosages for flotation tests based on sample mass and volume.
- Must be able to carry out all associated sample preparation testwork and mineral processing testwork either upstream or downstream of the flotation testwork.
- Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
- Perform any other reasonable task as assigned by direct line manager.
SPECIFIC AUTHORITIES
- Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or enter hazardous environments without the necessary knowledge and protection and report the situation to higher authority to take action.
- Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and report the situation to higher authority to take action.
- Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified, or when nonconformity is identified.
- Any person has the right to refuse to perform work that may damage the environment in an imminent and serious way and to report such a situation.
Qualifications: Education
- Senior certificate (Matric).
Experience
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years experience in the field of minerals processing and flotation.
- Able to follow written instructions to the finest detail.
