Senior Multi-worker (Warehouse)

Yara Animal Nutrition's operations in South Africa include a raw materials processing plant and local head office in Umbogintwini near Durban, selling mineral feed supplements to feed producers and farmers across Southern Africa with sales to selected foreign countries. Responsibilities

WAREHOUSE SENIOR MULTI-WORKER – Coordinates the bagging (product packaging) and loading (containers/truck) activities within the warehouse. The activities include bagging of product, ensuring product conformity, loading of trucks, containers with administrative duties. Provide support and coverage in all warehouse functions.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assists with running the warehouse by substituting for colleagues in their absence.
  • Notify shift leaders of any issues.
  • Conduct daily cycle counts as per schedule.
  • Conduct production verification.
  • Product packaging: Tasks include sewing, weighing of bags, working with robotics, spout filling.
  • Obtain maximum output from continually bagging and loading products.
  • Loading/offloading of products onto trucks and containers; tasks include hooking of bags, directing forklift drivers, directing truck drivers, and liaising with weighbridge.
  • Issue work permits.
  • Exercise conduct within Yara's code of ethics and Corporate Governance.
  • Conduct daily housekeeping on plant and in warehouse.
  • Ensure that all requirements and programs relating to safety standards and the OSH Act are adhered to with enthusiasm.
  • Ensure that statutory training and other developmental courses are attended to.
  • Assist artisans during stripping of equipment for repair. Open, clean and "box up" equipment when necessary.
  • May assist in working in other areas of the plant or site if and when required.

Profile

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • 5 years’ experience in packaging or loading of trucks and containers, logistics/warehousing.
  • Forklift and/or payloader license and experience advantageous.
  • Experience with coordination of administrative duties.
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual work.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25kg bags or 50kg (with some assistance).
  • Related tertiary qualifications will be advantageous.

Additional Information

  • Shift-based role: Time 10:00 - 22:00, with alternate weekends.
  • Basic Salary + Shift Allowance + Medical Aid + Retirement Funds.
  • Site is based at Umbogintwini / Amazimtoti.
