Leading consulting engineering firm is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with around 8 - 12 years experience in design and project management for the petrochemical industry.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree (BEng / BSc / BTech) in Mechanical Engineering.
Professional Registration with ECSA (PrEng or PrTechEng).
8 - 12 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering design and project management within the petrochemical, oil & gas, or refining industry.
Strong knowledge of mechanical design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Caesar II, PV Elite, etc.).
Experience with industry codes and standards (ASME, API, SANS, ISO, etc.).
Proven ability to manage projects from inception to completion.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee mechanical design projects from conceptualization to detailed engineering.
Provide technical leadership in mechanical systems, including piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, and compressors.
Develop and review engineering calculations, specifications, and drawings to ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
Conduct FEED (Front End Engineering Design) studies and feasibility assessments.
Manage the design review process, ensuring quality assurance and adherence to international and local standards (ASME, API, SANS, etc.).
Coordinate and interface with multidisciplinary teams, including process, civil, electrical, and instrumentation engineers.
Oversee procurement activities, including material selection and supplier evaluations.
Develop project schedules, budgets, and progress reports, ensuring timely and cost-effective project execution.
Conduct site visits and provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations in design and execution.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and designers.
