SENIOR MECHANICAL DESIGNER – Mining Industry

Job Description

Responsibilities

1. Primarily, undertake 3D CAD design modelling and 2D drafting annotations.
2. Modelling of 2D Vendor drawings into 3D Models.
3. Detailed design and production of mechanical models and drawings encompassing all aspects of a Mining Processing plant construction package in accordance with relevant standards and project requirements.
4. Timely completion of mechanical deliverables to schedules.
5. Adherence to project man-hour budgets.
6. Adherence to company standards and procedures.
7. Miscellaneous tasks such as vendor works inspections, material take-offs, standard drawings, and detail drawings.
8. Production of drawings in accordance with established procedures, i.e., internal review, client review, checking, etc.
9. Clarity and accuracy of drawings.
10. Work closely with consultants, other disciplines, and Project / Study Managers to ensure that client's objectives are met in a timely manner.
11. Ensure compliance and take initiative for safety and environmental issues.

Qualifications

Tertiary Technical Qualification (National Diploma, etc.).

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

1. Minimum of 5 to 8 years Mechanical design experience in the mining and minerals processing area in design office and in the field.
2. Knowledge of Mineral Processing Plant equipment such as Primary Crusher, Secondary Crushers, Tertiary Crushers, Vibrating Screens, Feeders, and Stockpiles.
3. A good understanding of the operation of belt conveyors and its various components.
4. Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of design packages and discipline-related application software.
5. Experienced and familiar with relevant CAD software packages including 3D and company Drafting Procedure.
6. Knowledge of fabrication, construction, and operations.
7. Good understanding of mechanical technology.
8. Checking skills with the ability to work unsupervised, focus on task completion, and initiative.
9. Quick and accurate with a methodical approach to allocated work areas.
