Senior Linux Systems Engineer at M&M Consulting

The Senior Linux System Engineer should have in-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems, excellent troubleshooting skills, and high-level knowledge of computer hardware. The Linux System Engineer will ensure the smooth running of the company's computer system and quickly respond to breakdowns and software issues.

Responsibilities

1. Installing and upgrading Linux system software on company servers and computers.
2. Creating Linux file systems.
3. Setting up and maintaining Linux user accounts and access management systems.
4. Setting up and maintaining Mail Gateway systems in particular Postfix and Zimbra.
5. Understanding Vicidial and Bria telephony systems will be an added advantage.
6. Implementing Ansible for automation and streamlining of Linux tasks and processes.
7. Detecting and troubleshooting software and hardware issues.
8. Responding to user requests and software errors.
9. Monitoring the performance of the system and server.
10. Creating backup and recovery policies.
11. Regular vulnerabilities checks, applying patches and upgrades when necessary.

Weekly standby as per standby roster.

Desired Skills:

1. Degree in computer science or computer engineering.
2. Experience as a Linux Systems Engineer.
3. Knowledge of Linux principles, file editing, Linux commands, and file manipulation.
4. Experience with Nginx Reverse Backend Proxy and Load Balancers.
5. Proficiency in scripting and SSL.

Desired Work Experience:

1. 5 to 10 years.
