Senior Legal Advisor: Recoveries & Insolvency - Head Office

A well-established financial services business is seeking to appoint a Senior Legal Advisor: Recoveries & Insolvency. To create and manage an end-to-end legal recoveries capability. The function should maximise cost effective recoveries and contribute to minimising financial loss and mitigating risk.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• LLB or equivalent qualification.
• Admission as an attorney is a requirement or admitted Advocate having served pupillage.
• 7 years experience in legal recoveries/debt collection environment, preferably in a bank at the senior management level.
• 5 years management experience is preferable.
• Manage land claims, ensuring recovery of money on properties subject to land claims.
• Track all claims to ensure that maximum recovery takes place.
• Maintain relationships with external service providers (attorneys, debt collectors, etc.) and handle their queries timeously.
• Strategy development and overseeing the legal recovery process including insolvency and debt collection.
• Manage various functions within Legal Recoveries in order to maximise cost effective recoveries.

Critical Competencies

• Experience in restructuring of distressed accounts.
• Understanding of Insolvency legislation and practices in South Africa.
• In-depth knowledge of the Companies Act, NCA, CPA, Land Bank Act, and other relevant legislations.
