We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sweet & Beverage Food Technologist to join our team and help us uphold the highest standards in sample delivery and technical expertise.

Our ideal person:
To assist and participate in the development of sweet and beverage (majority sweet) applications in the food industry as well as the culinary industry by making use of a diverse internal library of flavours.

It will require technical knowledge and support when it comes to assisting clients with specific requests and requirements as well as supporting a sales team focused on both local and export client bases.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Manage briefs and action requirements to meet project objectives, deadlines and price requirements.
2. Coordinate flavour development and applications.
3. Support sales team and clients with new product and flavour ideas as well as the launch of it.
4. Develop sweet and beverage application concepts to showcase Scentium flavours and abilities.
5. Share technical knowledge with team members regarding sweet & beverage applications, flavours and processing.
6. Assist and support junior professionals.
7. Remain informed of sweet goods and beverage strategies, products and trends.
8. Maintain a safe, clean and organised environment and follow health and safety protocols.
9. Make relevant and optimal flavour selections for projects according to requested requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Bachelor's degree in food science or food technology (or similarly related) from an accredited university.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the sweet and confectionery industry.
3. Practical experience in beverages (alcoholic & non-alcoholic) manufacturing and flavour applications.
4. Practical experience in confectionery, baked goods and dairy products, its formulation and flavour applications.
5. Ability to work independently and under pressure.
6. Experience with the processing techniques and raw materials of sweet goods and beverages.
7. Analytical & creative thinking.
8. Professional verbal and written communication skills.
9. Ability to listen and communicate effectively.
10. Good mathematical skills and understanding.
11. Team player.
12. Skilled in Microsoft Office, more specifically Word & Excel.
13. SAP experience is beneficial.
14. Fluent in English and ability to communicate with people globally.
15. Ability to taste, see and smell optimally.
