A 5 Star Lodge is looking for an experienced and passionate Lodge Manager to lead the operations of a prestigious, luxury lodge in the breathtaking Waterberg region. This role requires an individual with a strong hospitality background, exceptional leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering unparalleled guest experiences. The Lodge Manager will oversee multiple departments, ensuring seamless operations, financial efficiency, and the highest standards of service. Working closely with the General Manager and Heads of Departments, the Lodge Manager will drive innovation, maintain property excellence, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and sustainability standards.

Minimum Requirements :

1. Grade 12 (Matric) and a Diploma in Hospitality Management or a related field
2. At least 5 years of experience in lodge or hospitality management, preferably in a luxury safari lodge setting
3. Proven experience in managing multiple departments, including Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Guest Services, Maintenance, and Administration
4. Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, stock control, and cost management
5. Comprehensive knowledge of health, hygiene, and safety regulations (OHS)
6. Experience with reservations, front office operations, and guest services
7. Sound knowledge of MS Office Suite and lodge management software
8. Valid Code 10 driver’s license
9. Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff
10. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – professional, well-spoken, and guest-focused
11. A team player with a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and emotional intelligence
12. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle guest complaints professionally
13. A passion for sustainability, conservation, and luxury hospitality

Duties and Responsibilities :

1. Oversee the daily operations of the lodge, ensuring exceptional service across all departments
2. Work closely with the General Manager to align operations with company standards and strategic goals
3. Ensure a seamless guest experience, from check-in to departure, maintaining 5-star service excellence
4. Regularly review guest feedback, respond to complaints constructively, and use insights to improve services
5. Maintain high property standards, ensuring all lodge areas are clean, well-maintained, and aesthetically pleasing
6. Stay ahead of industry trends and competitor offerings to keep the lodge innovative in guest experience
7. Lead and mentor Heads of Departments to ensure efficient department coordination
8. Conduct training, performance evaluations, and team-building activities to enhance staff performance and morale
9. Ensure discipline and adherence to company policies, handling deviations professionally
10. Foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement
11. Manage and monitor budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations while maintaining quality
12. Oversee stock control, requisitions, and inventory management, ensuring strict adherence to company standards
13. Review monthly forecasts and allocate resources efficiently
14. Ensure all administrative tasks, reports, and financial records are accurate and up to date
15. Ensure full compliance with OHS (Occupational Health & Safety) regulations
16. Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments
17. Ensure all fire, hygiene, and safety protocols are strictly followed by staff and guests
18. Implement and maintain eco-friendly practices to minimize the lodge’s environmental footprint
19. Educate staff and guests on sustainability initiatives and conservation efforts
20. Work with local conservation bodies to support wildlife preservation efforts
