Senior It Engineer Centurion

Job Overview
The candidate will be responsible for providing a professional IT engineering service to the company. Maintain and support the Linux and Windows-based infrastructure and database servers. The goal is to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both backend data structure and frontend accessibility for end-users.

Duties & Responsibilities
The main Key Responsibility Areas and Duties are as follows:

1. Installation & configuration of Linux and Windows systems.
2. Maintain, update, patch, tune, and repair applications to keep them performing according to technical and functional specifications.
3. Creation, configuration, and installation of Virtual Machines and ESX.
4. Communicate and enforce Operating system changes and compliance requirements.
5. Create and architect system layouts.
6. Maintain and improve existing systems.
7. Perform fault-finding, analyse problems, and provide solutions.
8. Log faults with 3rd parties.
9. Installation and configuration of MySQL server.
10. Recommend solutions by defining physical database structures and functional capabilities, database security, data back-ups and recovery specifications.
11. Evaluating existing systems and designing proposed systems.
12. Maintain database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters; implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements; evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products.
13. Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organisation standards.
14. Determine, enforce, and document database/server policies, procedures, and standards.

Desired Experience & Qualifications
Requirements and Skills:

1. 10 yrs+ applicable experience in Linux and Windows environments.
2. Significant network knowledge (knowledge on Fortigate firewalls would be an advantage).
3. Significant knowledge in shell Scripting.
4. Significant knowledge on Virtual environments.
5. Significant knowledge of monitoring systems like Zabbix and Nagios.
6. Information Security Policies.
7. Proven working experience with databases (MySQL).
8. Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications.
9. Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and SQL.
10. Familiarity with database design, documentation, and coding.
11. Familiarity with programming languages API.
12. Problem solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.

Advantage skills and experience:

1. Darktrace administration and configuration.
2. Microsoft Defender implementation, administration, and configuration.
3. Microsoft Intune implementation, administration, and configuration.
4. Azure AD implementation, administration, and configuration.
5. Security implementation, administration, and management.

Education & Qualifications:
LPI 1 Certified (LP2 would be a bonus). BS degree in a computer discipline or relevant certification.
