About the Role: The HR Manager will be responsible for overseeing the human resources functions in our Cape Town office. This role combines strategic HR leadership with operational excellence, ensuring the organization’s HR processes run smoothly while adhering to local labor laws and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a key point of contact for employee relations, resolving disputes, and managing disciplinary processes in line with the Labor Relations Act (LRA).
- Provide expert guidance on employment law and HR best practices to senior management and employees.
- Address employee grievances and provide mediation and conflict resolution support.
- Partner to successfully execute strategies for employee engagement and retention in the Cape Town office.
- Advise and partner with employees to align our framework and strategy.
- Manage the local HR Talent team and partner with global HR leads.
- Manage performance review cycles, ensuring fair and consistent evaluation of employees.
- Oversee the performance management system to ensure employees meet their goals and receive constructive feedback.
- Support managers in addressing underperformance and implementing corrective actions in line with company policies.
- Execute probations, performance improvement plans, and grievances.
- Develop and maintain key HR metrics (e.g., turnover rate, employee satisfaction) to assess the effectiveness of HR programs and operations.
- Provide reports and insights to senior leadership on HR-related matters, including trends and areas for improvement.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in HR operations, identifying efficiencies and automating processes where possible.
- Drive HR strategies aligned with business goals, including talent retention, performance management, talent management and organizational development.
- Lead and manage HR operations, ensuring smooth execution of all day-to-day HR functions, including HR administration, employee records management, and HR data reporting.
- Oversee the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures that comply with South African labor laws and company standards.
- Ensure and automate effective HR workflows and operational processes to improve efficiency and reduce administrative burden.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR documentation are maintained, complying with data protection regulations.
- Oversee the preparation of HR reports, including headcount, turnover, compliance audits, and performance metrics.
- Manage HR systems, ensuring all processes are automated, efficient, and compliant with legislation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in HR, with at least 3 years in a managerial or senior HR role.
- Strong knowledge of South African labor laws and HR best practices.
- Proven experience managing HR teams, including generating HR reporting, partnering with leaders and employees, HRIS systems, and talent management.
- Solid experience with employee relations, conflict resolution, business partnering, and performance management.
- Previous exposure to managing a team and working cross-functionally within a business.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
- Must be technically sound and able to create HR automation.
