Job description

The Senior HR Officer will oversee all aspects of the company’s human resources function contributing to the growth and development of the HR department. This position is responsible for implementing policies, ensuring compliance with labor laws, managing employee relations, and supporting the overall HR strategy to add value to the company.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  1. Policy and SOP Development: Draft, implement, and ensure adherence to HR policies and standard operating procedures, keeping them up to date with current laws and best practices.
  2. Employee Relations and Labor Law Compliance: Oversee the implementation of employee relations processes, ensuring all legal and procedural requirements are met and resolving any related queries.
  3. Employee Documentation: Ensure that all necessary employee paperwork is accurate, up-to-date, and filed according to company and legal requirements.
  4. Performance Engagement and Culture Surveys: Execute the biannual performance engagement and culture 360 surveys to assess employee satisfaction and organizational health.
  5. Employment Equity and Submissions: Ensure accurate and timely submission of Employment Equity and Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) / Annual Training Report (ATR) documents.
  6. Recruitment and Onboarding: Oversee the full recruitment cycle from job posting to interviewing and hiring, and manage the onboarding and offboarding process.
  7. Induction Programs: Facilitate and host the quarterly induction presentation for new hires, ensuring a smooth and informative start to their employment.
  8. Employee Movement Management: Manage all employee movements, ensuring proper documentation, data updates in relevant systems, and communication with the necessary parties.
  9. Payroll Coordination: Ensure employee movements are accurately reflected in payroll and all related processes are compliant.
  10. Recruitment Consultation: Advise managers on DISC profiles and assist in the recruitment of Intern Consultants.
  11. Job Descriptions: Draft job descriptions when necessary to reflect roles accurately.
  12. Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requirements.
  13. HR Consultation: Provide daily consultation and support to managers and staff on various HR matters.

Requirements:

  1. Education: Matric (NQF Level 4)
  2. Transport: Own reliable transport
  3. Computer Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
  4. Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a human resources role
  5. Legal Knowledge: Sound knowledge of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Labour Relations Act (LRA), Employment Equity (EE), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and SETA guidelines.
  6. Qualification: A relevant degree or diploma in Human Resources or a related field is preferred.
