Description

Senior Fund Accountant - SA (CIS) Fund Accounting manage, to perform fund valuations within the Institutional Funds space.

The Senior Fund Accountant will be required to administer the funds efficiently, accurately and within daily deadlines as well as setting up and ensuring checklists and standards are adhered to.

Job Specification

The main responsibilities of the role will be to:

1. Update the Apex systems with all the daily prices and the verification of these prices.
2. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior fund accountants, and review all fund valuations prepared by them and ensure the accurate calculation of fund valuations.
3. Generate and distribute daily valuation files.
4. Be responsible for income distribution and TER calculations and provide them to clients timeously.
5. Review all processes to assess continuous improvement and automation opportunities, and present recommendations to management.
6. Be responsible for maintaining and continuously updating the process of documentation.
7. Communicate and respond to queries internally and from the client, assisting team leaders and managers in resolving such queries.
8. Deal with client queries and audit queries.
9. Perform valuation quality assurance reviews and ensure consistent quality of output.
10. Manage and oversee production schedule and client deliveries in the team leader's absence.
11. Assist in the implementation of projects, checks and controls to mitigate risk.
12. Coordinate the induction program for new joiners.

Skills Required

The successful candidate will have:

1. A minimum of 1-2 years' experience as a fund accountant.
2. A BCom or similar, accounting, economics or investments background.
3. Experience in Asset Management portfolio administration and pricing.
4. Experience with investment products (including Unit Trusts, Multi-Manager, Segregated Portfolios, ETFs, Pooled products) either locally or internationally is an advantage.
5. IT and Systems Skills and Knowledge.
6. A good working knowledge of systems or an aptitude for working with systems, specifically Invest One.
7. An excellent working knowledge of MS Office & IT packages (particularly Excel).
