Senior Financial Accountant

Vacancies exist for two Senior Financial Accountants reporting to a Finance Manager in the Financial Services Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible to support various functions with their financial processes so as to achieve compliance, standardisation and efficiency in the financial accounting of Life Healthcare. This role is based in Dunkeld, Johannesburg.

Critical Outputs

• Reviewing accounting reconciliations / gl analyses and resolving of reconciling items in relevant accounting process
• Ensure complete, accurate and timeous processing of transactions
• Ensure compliance with corporate governance, procedures & protocols within the group
• Assist with accounting related issues including preparation of reports, analyses of expenses / income, recommendations
• Promoting best operating practices
• Constantly striving to improve working methods to improve standardisation and efficiencies
• Assist in the annual budgets process
• Assist with internal and external auditors requests
• Assist in the preparation of relevant annual financial statement notes
• Assist in the planning, training, implementation and support of new / refined processes
• Manage ad hoc projects / requests as communicated by Management

Requirements

• BCom degree
• At least 5 year’s work experience, preferably in a similar role
• Experience in implementing new processes / systems
• Experience in senior stakeholder engagement would be beneficial
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is critical with advanced Excel Skills
• Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
• SAP experience is an advantage
• High performance orientation, independence, functional proficiency, initiative and an ability to meet deadlines is essential for this position as is attention to detail and good communication and report writing skills
