Senior Electrical Engineer required to fulfil the role of Team Lead Electrical Engineer and join our Industry South Africa team, which is looking to expand and develop its South Africa-based Industry Electrical Engineering team to assist with our growing workload. You will be flexible, dynamic, and have the ability to assist in the development of our growing team out of South Africa.

You will be responsible for overseeing and managing all electrical engineering aspects of industrial building design projects. Project responsibility will vary from inception and defining a client’s design brief to inspections, specifications, design, and management of projects. This role requires someone with the ability to lead a team of engineers, deliver quality and robust deliverables, and ensure that all project milestones are met on time and within budget.

Role Objectives Include:

1. Providing leadership to the South Africa Electrical Engineering team, reporting to the Director Advisory Group.
2. Maintaining effective communication and relationships with our global teams (NL, GER & UK).
3. Providing technical leadership on projects.
4. Providing technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to design engineers or technologists.
5. Business development support including input into bids and proposals.
6. Supporting our global teams (NL, GER & UK) on industrial projects.
7. Assisting our South Africa Data Centre Team with a range of projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Managing and delivering the electrical work packages in multiple projects.
2. Identifying the scope, design, and management objectives and delivering project documentation to ensure the quality and flow of information required for contractors, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
3. Producing design calculations, sketch drawings, and details of drawings using relevant software (Revit, Revizto, Dialux, ETAP, etc.), including checking and reviewing these prior to issue where completed by others.
4. Writing technical specifications and reports.
5. Assisting the project manager in the preparation/review of project costs and risk assessments.
6. Developing and maintaining vendor relationships to ensure continuous technical professional development.
7. Reviewing contractor pre-qualifications and preparing tender evaluation summaries for tender reviews.
8. Evaluating proposals and making recommendations to the client regarding vendor selection.
9. Writing technical specifications for tenders.
10. Representing RHDHV on factory acceptance tests and site testing & commissioning activities.
11. Communicating the status of projects to internal directors and external stakeholders (clients) on an ad-hoc and formal basis.

What You Bring:

1. A bachelor and/or master’s degree in electrical engineering.
2. At least 8 – 10+ years of relevant industrial building working experience in LV/MV electrical design and installation in a consulting engineering environment.
3. Professional registration with ECSA as a PrEng is required.
4. Good knowledge of standard practices in the design and construction industry.
5. Good understanding of the daily (operational) business of our clients.

8. Ability to perform best in a multidisciplinary team.
9. Excellent communication skills towards colleagues and clients.
