Security Operations Manager

Purpose of the role:

The purpose of this role is to support the Head of Health & Safety, Africa, in developing and managing a professional security service that safeguards the property of Westfalia Fruit. This includes continuously improving security measures in alignment with advancements in the security sector and the unique needs of the farming and rural environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Professionalise the current security team, raising the level of security discipline to manage the risks of crime and losses through in-house and outsourced security team of supervisors and security guards.
2. Implement both active and passive security systems and infrastructure for safeguarding company property, workers, and visitors.
3. Guide and oversee the security guards and the security supervisors to reach the security management system objectives of the company.
4. Implement an integrated risk management and crime prevention system through liaison with local and national crime prevention apparatus.
5. Develop and manage a professional security service to safeguard people and property.
6. Ensure compliance with legal security guidelines and public safety measures.
7. Manage crowd control, protest situations, and workplace security.
8. Implement and maintain security policies, procedures, and systems.
9. Collaborate with internal teams and external security providers.
10. Ensure financial management and cost-effectiveness in security operations.
11. Utilize ERP systems (D365, SAP, Sage) for security-related reporting.
12. Ensure continuous improvement in security measures and operations.

Requirements:

Education:

1. Matric Certificate.
2. Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Security Management or a related field.
3. Professional Certifications in security or management.

Experience:

1. 5 or more years in a security management role.
2. Experience with crowd control and protest management.
3. Knowledge of national security and policing legislation.
4. Understanding of workplace safety and security issues.
5. Experience in CCTV control room management systems.
6. Tactical operation background.
7. Exposure to risk management and risk control measures.
8. Familiarity with various operational management systems (ISO45001, Global Gap, SIZA, BRC, etc.).
9. Attention to detail.
10. Self-driven and takes initiative.
11. Ability to work effectively in a team.
12. Strong discipline, sober habits, and professional demeanor.
13. No criminal record.
14. Ethical and principled.
