Job description

Calling on suitably qualified and experienced Sales Representatives. L&G Tools and Machinery Distributors is actively recruiting an experienced Sales Representative in GAUTENG and surrounding areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of sales within a geographical location.

This position reports into the Regional Sales Manager and/or Sales Director. The successful candidate will ideally understand DIY Tools and Machinery (incl. Welding) and must meet the following criteria:

  1. The successful candidate must be able to work independently.
  2. Possess essential elements of an effective sales strategy that will enable the generation of sales leads and ensure closure of deals.
  3. The candidate must be customer-centric, goal-driven, self-driven, disciplined, creative, and influential.
  4. Must be able to develop and strategize a regional sales plan.
  5. Meet KPI's aligned to their Sales strategy and to company goals.
  6. Assist in Marketing strategies.
  7. Providing performance feedback to senior management on a regular basis (weekly).
  8. Presenting to new prospective customers and key accounts to grow the business.
  9. Adherence to company policies, procedures, and ethics.
  10. Training, development, and coaching of customers' sales team to ensure sales strategy is met.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Grade 12
  2. High level of Business Acumen
  3. + 2 years Syspro or similar operating system knowledge and MS Office
  4. Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Sales environment from the Hardware industry
  5. Willing to travel (extensive)
  6. Driver's license
  7. Excellent communication in both written and verbal with English and Zulu
  8. Telephonic etiquette and customer service centricity coupled with professionalism

  1. Sales Turnover Value; by customer, by category and by product as measured against budget
  2. Gross Profit Margin; by customer, by category and by product as measured against budget
  3. New business and retention
  4. Customer activities that promote the sales strategy
  5. Returns Management
  6. Expense Management

RESPONSIBILITIES

SALES

  1. In line with the company strategy, achieve budgeted Sales and Margins in his/her area.
  2. Ensure orders received are captured and transmitted immediately.
  3. Update and ensure relevant customer information is maintained.
  4. Update your Product Knowledge, interact with the Category Managers regularly and impart knowledge to customers.
  5. Source new business from existing and new customers.
  6. Presentations to new and existing customers on current and new product ranges throughout ALL the categories, including discontinued and aged stock.
  7. Product ranges; monthly specials; promotions; etc to be clearly communicated to all customers, i.e. from Owner; Manager; Buyer through to Store sales staff.
  8. Ensuring complete customer satisfaction; fostering strong customer relationships.
  9. Obtain and analyze customer's buy-in and sell through reports.
  10. Regular Business Reviews with Top 10 customers.
  11. Develop and strategize, to ensure growth within the business within the region.
  12. Interaction with the Sales Director for Business Development purposes, as well as for customer visits, as and when necessary.
  13. Generation of Sales Leads.
  14. Developing and maintaining customer relationships.
  15. Listen to customer service requirements and address their needs.

ADMIN

  1. Adhere to your Customer Calling Schedule.
  2. Analyze and report on Daily, Weekly and Monthly Sales Reports.
  3. Plan Promotional calendars and liaise with Planning and Marketing Department, to ensure that promotions are timeously provided for.
  4. Report back on Opposition activity; Market trends and New product opportunities.
  5. Together with the Sales Director, prepare Sales Budget, in line with the Company targets.
  6. Adhering to and applying company policies and procedures.
  7. Operating expenses within budget.
  8. To compile and generate any adhoc information required by Management.
  9. Assist Debtors Department with outstanding payments/queries of customers.
  10. Copy of Returns Policy to be issued to all customers and effectively managed.
  11. Maintain and update customer record-list, to be placed on database, and communicate to all concerned, i.e. Marketing; Accounts Department and Management, to ensure that the Monthly Promotional Specials are communicated efficiently.
  12. To perform any other reasonable tasks that may be required by Management, from time to time.
