Job description

The Sales Development Representative (SDR) is responsible for driving growth by identifying, engaging, and qualifying potential leads for the company’s solutions. The role involves proactive outreach to build a strong pipeline of high-quality opportunities, serving as the first point of contact for prospects, and managing CRM records.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead Generation and Qualification:

  • Research and identify potential customers within the target market.
  • Conduct outbound calls and emails to engage with prospects and qualify leads.
  • Use cold calling, email campaigns, industry events, and LinkedIn outreach to generate leads.
  • Qualify leads by assessing their needs, challenges, and decision-making processes.

Maintain accurate records of interactions in the CRM system.

  • Schedule meetings and product demos for the sales team.
  • Provide regular updates to the sales team and leadership on lead status and pipeline metrics.

Work with the marketing team to align outreach strategies with campaigns.

  • Offer feedback on the effectiveness of marketing materials and lead generation strategies.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to refine the lead qualification process.

Market Research and Insights:

  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities.
  • Share insights with the team to inform strategy and positioning.

Sales Acumen:

  • Strong understanding of sales processes and techniques, especially in SaaS environments.

Communication:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage and build rapport with prospects.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Ability to build rapport and work collaboratively with diverse teams.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar 3-year qualification in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in sales development or a related role.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding lead generation targets.
  • Experience in B2B sales, particularly in the technology or legal sectors, is a plus.
  • Understanding of South African business practices and market dynamics.
