MEA Projects, a Division of Howden Africa (Pty) Ltd is looking for an experienced Applications Engineer to primarily focus on providing technical support to the global business units on Mine Cooling Applications.
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…
Continuously develop and improve strategies for the Global Mine Cooling division to increase its offerings to the industry. Ensure sustainable growth within a captive market.
Responsible for efficient management and preparation of the tend / proposal process.
Develop highly complex mine cooling design concepts that comply with customer specifications, performance requirements and local design and safety standards specific to the end location.
Build and maintain close contact with key customers to identify possible problem areas which allow for enhancement opportunities, thereby promoting sales and ensuring sustainable growth.
Lead and mentor global business unit engineering staff, and provide guidance and strategic support to the global mining team.
Process and Mechanical Engineering Design of Mine Cooling Systems.
Generating process descriptions, control philosophies and functional design specifications.
Develop and manage new mine cooling products.
Your Education Should Be…
B.ENG Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
Your Professional Experience Should Be…
5-10 years' experience in Mine Cooling and Refrigeration design
Must have a strong background and knowledge of mine cooling, refrigeration and ventilation system design.
Experience as a Mine Cooling Applications Specialist will be an added advantage
Must have strong knowledge of thermodynamic principles with mass and energy balance calculations.
Good understanding of mine environmental control.
Extensive international experience and exposure in high value Turnkey multi-disciplinary projects.
Familiarity with international standards, codes and specifications such as ASME, API, TEMA, PED, ASHRAE, EN and ISO will be an advantage
Knowledge of refrigeration, cooling and heat transfer calculations.
