Job description

Transaction Junction, a leading FinTech company operating across South Africa and the African continent, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Sales Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be a strategic, people-focused leader with a proven track record of executing sales strategies, achieving revenue growth, and managing diverse, high-performing teams in the payments and FinTech industry. This role is responsible for driving new business acquisition and growing existing client revenue across our product and service lines. The individual will oversee both proactive and passive sales strategies, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and fostering relationships that enhance market presence.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team
  • Set clear KPIs and performance objectives aligned to company strategy
  • Monitor team performance and drive a culture of accountability and achievement
  • Promote collaboration, diversity, and inclusion across the team

Strategic Sales Execution

  • Drive acquisition of new business in line with Transaction Junction’s growth strategy
  • Achieve sales targets across all verticals including SoftPOS, card-present and card-not-present solutions, and digital payment services
  • Implement both outbound and inbound sales strategies for sustainable revenue generation
  • Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities within the existing customer base

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain key relationships with banks, merchants, and third-party stakeholders
  • Ensure exceptional service delivery through proactive engagement and consistent communication
  • Act as a senior representative for Transaction Junction in client-facing scenarios.

Operational & Sales Efficiency

  • Oversee daily operations of the sales team, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to process
  • Set and manage KPI’s and financial targets to the appropriate team members
  • Provide accurate and timely reports including sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and competitor insights
  • Streamline sales workflows to reduce the time from sale to implementation
  • Be given freedom to build and structure the sales team in the most optimal way to meet the TJ strategy

Sales Reporting & Administration

  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of sales reports and activity logs
  • Analyse sales data to measure progress against targets and identify improvement areas
  • Intervene and grow staff sales capability wherever needed reporting training or other development areas to strengthen the team

Key Account Management

  • Provide key direction and growth the KAM roles in the business
  • Ensure that account plans are delivered and incorporated into KPIs
  • Drive accountability for cross-and-upselling of products and services in the KAM team

Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12) plus a relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Sales, or Marketing
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in sales leadership, with a strong background in the FinTech or payments industry
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing sales strategies that drive significant revenue growth
  • Proven ability to manage and grow client portfolios across diverse markets and products
  • Experience in FinTech, particularly retail payments and eCommerce is a strong motivator

Technical & Business Competencies

  • Strong understanding of the FinTech and payment ecosystems (POS, eCommerce, SoftPOS, digital wallets, etc.)
  • Exceptional leadership and people development skills
  • Financial acumen with the ability to interpret and act on sales and revenue reports
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Strong project management and organisational capabilities
