Safety Officer

Functions / Responsibilities

Health & Safety

· Maintain and implement SHERQ system at the plant level, including but not limited to ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001.

· Do SHERQ internal audit and assist with an external audit performance

· Compile and update safety files.

· Review and advice on health restrictions.

Compliance

· Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to, regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.

· Ensure compliance to the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

· Compile and record letters of legal appointment.

· Upload and Maintain documents on the SHEQhub system.

Management and Training

· Minute, manage and devise the agenda for the Health & Safety committee meetings. (level 3 and 4)

· Management and execution of safety standards.

· Assess plant personnel based on SOPs for competency declaration.

· Coordinate Real Tree functional/ generic training.

Requirements

· Matric or equivalent

· Safety related qualification (SAMTRAC) will be advantageous

· Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar role

· Good practical knowledge of Microsoft office

· In-depth understanding on the principles of Risk Assessment

· Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 will be advantageous

· COIDA and OHS Act knowledge

· SHEMS experience

· Knowledge of FPS standards and Life Saving Rules

· A valid light vehicle driver’s license to travel to various regions.
