Safety Officer

We pride ourselves on maintaining the highest safety standards on all our projects. We are currently seeking a qualified Safety Officer with experience in construction operations to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in compliance with OHS regulations and industry standards.
• Oversee safety management on-site for road maintenance projects, including road pavement repairs, pothole filling, grass cutting, and drainage system maintenance.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and local legislation.
• Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to staff, emphasising best practices in road maintenance, grass cutting, and construction operations.
• Ensure all workers are equipped with and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Investigate any incidents or near-misses, and implement corrective actions to mitigate future risks.
• Maintain safety records and reports for management and ensure compliance with regulatory bodies.
• Collaborate with project managers and supervisors to ensure the seamless implementation of safety measures.

Requirements:

• National Diploma or relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• SACPCMP accreditation as a registered Safety Officer (required).
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in the construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of OHS regulations and safety best practices in construction and civil engineering projects.
• Experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to train and guide on-site teams in safety compliance.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to work independently.
