We pride ourselves on maintaining the highest safety standards on all our projects. We are currently seeking a qualified Safety Officer with experience in construction operations to join our team.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in compliance with OHS regulations and industry standards.
Oversee safety management on-site for road maintenance projects, including road pavement repairs, pothole filling, grass cutting, and drainage system maintenance.
Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and local legislation.
Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to staff, emphasising best practices in road maintenance, grass cutting, and construction operations.
Ensure all workers are equipped with and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Investigate any incidents or near-misses, and implement corrective actions to mitigate future risks.
Maintain safety records and reports for management and ensure compliance with regulatory bodies.
Collaborate with project managers and supervisors to ensure the seamless implementation of safety measures.
Requirements:
National Diploma or relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
SACPCMP accreditation as a registered Safety Officer (required).
Minimum of 3 years' experience in the construction industry.
In-depth knowledge of OHS regulations and safety best practices in construction and civil engineering projects.
Experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to train and guide on-site teams in safety compliance.
Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to work independently.
