We are looking for Safety Managers with Mining Experience to be based at Mines in the Northern Cape.

Job Summary:

The Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing and maintaining safety programs to ensure a safe work environment for employees. This role will involve identifying potential hazards, conducting risk assessments, and developing policies and procedures to mitigate risk. The Safety Officer will also be responsible for training employees on safety procedures and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Identify potential hazards in the workplace and develop strategies to mitigate risk.
  2. Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential safety hazards and take corrective action as needed.
  3. Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  4. Provide training to employees on safety policies and procedures.
  5. Monitor compliance with safety policies and procedures and take corrective action as necessary.
  6. Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  7. Maintain safety records and prepare reports for management.
  8. Develop emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure readiness.
  9. Stay up-to-date with changes in safety regulations and implement changes as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in occupational health and safety.
  • SACPCMP Experience in Mining
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional certification in Occupational Health and Safety is a plus.

Working Conditions:

The Safety Officer will primarily work in an office environment but may also need to conduct site visits to assess safety hazards. This role may require occasional evening or weekend work to conduct safety training or drills. The Safety Officer may also need to lift heavy objects or equipment on occasion.
