Job Opportunity : Security & Safety Manager – South Africa

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Security & Safety Manager to lead and manage security and safety operations across a dynamic environment. This role will be responsible for ensuring compliance, mitigating risks, and protecting human, physical, and intellectual assets. The successful candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective security and safety measures are in place.

Key Responsibilities

Security Management

  1. Implement, monitor, and ensure compliance with the Group's security policies, systems, and standards.
  2. Identify and manage local security risks, developing mitigation measures in alignment with the Group's Integrated Risk Framework.
  3. Ensure regulatory security requirements are met and integrated with Group policies.
  4. Conduct risk assessments and recommend enhancements to physical security measures.
  5. Develop emergency response plans and train an Incident Management Team.
  6. Manage crisis situations, ensuring timely business continuity actions.
  7. Lead investigations into security threats, asset loss, and fraud incidents.
  8. Oversee security measures for new construction and renovations, ensuring security directives are met.
  9. Manage event security, ensuring compliance with company security standards.
  10. Oversee external security service providers, ensuring quality service delivery.
  11. Supervise transportation of funds and goods, ensuring security compliance.
  12. Implement business traveler risk management, ensuring coordination and preventive measures.

Safety Management

  1. Implement, monitor, and ensure compliance with Health & Safety (H&S) policies and regulatory requirements.
  2. Oversee workplace safety and cleanliness, including third-party supplier management.
  3. Ensure H&S training programs are implemented and updated.
  4. Conduct regular inspections and assessments in line with company standards.
  5. Investigate and report on safety-related incidents.
  6. Develop and implement security and safety training programs.
  7. Manage incident response teams, ensuring timely actions and reporting.
  8. Provide expert guidance on security, safety, and business continuity matters.

Qualifications & Experience

Education : NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent qualification in Health & Safety.
Experience : Minimum 5 years in a Health & Safety / Security Management role.
Strong understanding of security, health & safety, and business strategy alignment.
Ability to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
Experience in managing third-party security and safety service providers.
Ability to handle high-pressure situations with discretion and professionalism.
Excellent project management and organisational skills.
Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in English.
