PURPOSE

Drive sustainable business value for an organisation. Managed Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Business Continuity Management (BCM) and Short Term Insurance (STI) practices (Operationally and Strategically).


You will engage with the following stakeholders:


Internal
Internal Stakeholders (Exco; Management; Employees)


External
Regulatory Bodies (SARB)
Associations (Banking Association South Africa; Payments Association South Africa)
External service providers, consultants, certification bodies etc.


Your key responsibilities include:


  1. Contribute/ compile budget setting and annual business planning
  2. Manage and control individual and relevant intervention, project and programme costs
  3. Manage the Risk Management budget activities
  4. Manages the risk champion structure and cost layout
  5. Manage Training and awareness budget
  6. Develop and maintain good stakeholder relationships - internal and external (Domestic and/or Regional)
  7. Deliver on internal and external stakeholder requirements and business needs (Domestic and Regional)
  8. Contribute to and deliver on BU goals and activities aligned to strategy (Various Long-Term Desired outcomes)
  9. Demonstrate innovative thinking in area of expertise and translate this into business process/ solutions/working practice improvements
  10. Deliver client or company specific projects in line with company standards and in agreement with line manager
  11. End-to-end administration of the Insurance Policy cover for BankservAfrica (Annual), whilst maintaining the stakeholder relationship between Marsh (STI broker) and BankservAfrica
  12. Manage BankservAfrica Business Interruption / Incidents and report same to BC Policy Committee (facilitated by PASA)
  13. Assist in the Combined Assurance approach, as member of the Combined Assurance Forum (CAF) in line with other internal assurance providers. Act as deputy Chairperson to caretake the meeting in the absence of the CAF Chairperson
  14. Manage the review, amendment and approval of the BCM Policy (ARC) and Procedures (CRO)
  15. Manage the distribution of the BCM Policy, BCM Frameworks and BCP document to staff through the local intranet and OnBase
  16. Develop and manage comprehensive processes and risk monitoring systems so as to identify, document, communicate and develop appropriate strategies to mitigate key risks for BankservAfrica as Payments Systems Operator (PSO)
  17. Develop and manage comprehensive policy, processes and risk monitoring systems so as to identify, document, communicate and develop appropriate strategies to mitigate key risks for BankservAfrica in the capacity of Scheme Management (TCIB and PayShap)
  18. Develop, implement and administer the enterprise risk management program, holistically for Operator and Scheme
  19. Identify and monitor key risk indicators, tolerances and trends and their correlation to the BankservAfrica Corporate Scorecard and Strategic objectives
  20. Manage the development of the Strategic risks with the BankservAfrica Board, Board Committees and Executive Management
  21. Recommend ways to control or reduce risk to the Business Units within the organisation, through second line of assurance management of the appointed Risk Champions per department
  22. Facilitate the identification and assist in analysing areas of potential risk to the success of organisation (independent enterprise-wide risk assessments as per business plan initiatives, by department’s request)
  23. Facilitate the assessment of risks to business operations
  24. Produce reports or presentations that outline findings, explain risk positions and recommend changes
  25. Compile and assist in delivering Monthly (Executive and Senior Management) and Quarterly (Board and Board sub-committees) risk reporting
  26. Analyse new legislation, in conjunction with relevant departments within the organisation, to determine impact on risk exposure
  27. Risk assess new legislation as incorporated into the BankservAfrica Regulatory Universe
  28. Maintain data in information systems or databases
  29. Appointed by Compliance as Business Owner / Data Steward and/or Data Privacy Champion in accordance with business need for Risk Management
  30. Maintain and manage all content (ERM, BCM and STI) on IT-enabled platforms (OneDrive / Sharepoint etc.) for Risk Management
  31. End-to-end facilitation of the audit assurance process facilitated by Internal and/or External Audit. Approval and closure of Audit related findings (Risk Management department – ERM)
  32. Provide Business Continuity Planning documentation and training to all employees
  33. Manage the review, amendment and approval of the BCM Policy (ARC) and Procedures (CRO)
  34. Manage the distribution of the BCM Policy, BCM Frameworks and BCP document to staff through the local intranet and OnBase
  35. BCM presentations and reports to Executive and Senior Management and the facilitation and close out of BCM improvements
  36. Ensure preplanning for Business interruption is ongoing and sustainable and contingency plans are developed to deal with different organisational emergencies
  37. Manages annual enhancement of the Business Continuity Plan (Contingency plans per crisis event)
  38. Completes Crisis Management training and simulations with Senior and Executive Management
  39. Develop and regularly update BCP document with the inclusion of risk assessments and business impact assessment
  40. Ensure that the BCP document is updated with the Business Impact Assessment (BIA) (across all business units), is aligned to IT responses and Contingency planning and the latest version approved by Executive and Senior Management (OpsCo and Strategy Management Forum)
  41. Perform bi-annual reviews and tests of established Business Continuity Plans and procedures, reporting findings to Senior Management and making recommendations for improvements as needed
  42. Completes Crisis Management training and simulations with Senior and Executive Management providing detailed reporting on BCM improvements and the overall enhancement of BCM within the organisation.
  43. End-to-end facilitation of the audit assurance process facilitated by Internal and/or External Audit. Approval and closure of Audit related findings (Risk Management department – BCM)
  44. Direct liaison to the Operational Resilience Team (Systems Operations and Management)
  45. Promote a positive Risk Management culture/awareness within the organisation
  46. Positive awareness of risk related content on the BankservAfrica Combined Assurance (Audit, Risk, Compliance) Yammer page and ability to engage with all levels of BankservAfrica staff
  47. Responsible for the Induction of new employees, design and maintain Induction presentation / training and awareness
  48. Facilitate the communication of the nature, opportunities and impact of key risks to stakeholders
  49. Risk reporting to Senior and Executive Management, as well as Board and Board sub-committees.
  50. Facilitate annual Risk Management Maturity Assessment with the Internal Risk Management structure and report to the internal risk forum, Senior Management and Board Committees
  51. Policies and procedures: Provide input into relevant policies and procedures
  52. Compliance: Comply with relevant policies & procedures, regulation and legislation
  53. Risk: Identify, mitigate and escalate risks appropriately
  54. Mentor team members to ensure skills transfer and contribute to a positive team culture
  55. Ensure self and team stay abreast of technical skills and industry developments

Qualifications / Knowledge

  1. Degree in Risk Management or an equivalent
  2. Highest level of education: B-Com Honours
  3. Knowledge and understanding of the Microsoft suite

Experience

  1. Minimum 4 – 5 years’ experience in risk management
  2. +/- 3 years risk experience (Risk Champion, Risk Co-ordinator, Risk Specialist)
  3. Experience in Enterprise Risk Management, Business Continuity Management and Short Term Insurance
