As a Forensics Researcher within the Johannesburg Forensics team, you will be an integral member of the wider Africa and subsequently, EMEA practice. The role will require you to exhibit technical excellence and an ability to build relationships and revenue for the practice, to assist Control Risks in significantly growing the business.
There are four priorities for the role:
- Contribute to the delivery of investigations and other forensic and compliance projects in Africa and across the broader EMEA region;
- Develop technical expertise in conducting fraud, bribery, and corruption and other white-collar-type crime investigations;
- Support senior colleagues in business development activities;
- Work with other members of the Forensics team and the wider EMEA practice to build Control Risks’ presence and reputation in the market.
Time in the role is expected to be divided between four areas as set out below:
Technical Delivery (70% of Role)
- Exhibit technical competence in the delivery of Forensics and Compliance engagements.
- Develop technical expertise in conducting third-party audits and other forensic engagements.
- Review and collate audit evidence from clients and third parties.
- Support senior members of the Forensics practice in business development activities.
- Collaborate with other members of the Forensics practice and the wider firm.
- Build Control Risks’ presence and reputation in the market.
- Proactively manage time and seek opportunities to develop technical expertise.
Operational & Risk (10% of Role)
- Support senior colleagues in the development of appropriate scopes and project budgets.
- Recognise and escalate project risks and budget overruns in a timely manner, providing thoughts on solutions.
Business Development & Growth (10% of Role)
- Support the cultivation of long-term relationships with clients through the delivery of high-quality projects.
Professional Development (10% of Role)
- Take ownership of personal development.
- Motivate and mentor junior members to achieve full individual and team potential.
Minimum Requirements:
- 2-3 years of previous relevant work experience.
- Awareness of a wide range of regulations concerning our clients, including the FCPA, UK Bribery Act, Bank Secrecy Act, SOX, anti-trust rules and regulations, export controls, and sanctions, among others.
- Experience working effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with investigating and analyzing financial evidence and data, transaction testing, and summarizing complex financial and business issues in succinct reports.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to track projects consistently to ensure client deadlines are met.
