Research Analyst

Our client is a non-profit think tank and development consultancy based in Cape Town and Kigali. Through our work, they contribute to building welfare-enhancing digitalized economies and sustainable economic growth in emerging markets (particularly in Africa).

Typically, they collaborate with different partners to deliver impact through research, innovation strategies, capacity-building, technical assistance, and convening.

POSITION INFO:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Doing rigorous primary and secondary research across a range of projects to develop credible, meaningful insights that help to solve development problems.
2. Developing effective written documents and presentations that communicate insights identified.
3. Presenting research work both internally and externally.
4. Engaging with external stakeholders – regulators, policymakers, private sector players, donor organizations, and/or development partners.
5. Contributing to proposals.
6. Coaching and mentoring more junior team members (Interns).

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

1. A completed master's degree in economics, public policy, international development, or other related fields.
2. A strong interest in research-related activities and passion for achieving positive impact in the world.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Good quantitative and analytical skills.
5. The willingness and ability to travel within South Africa and abroad.
6. At least 1 year of research experience would be to your advantage.
7. Advantageous experience, not required: Experience with Stata; Exposure to development or behavioral economics, financial inclusion, or international development.
