Main Purpose:
The Regional Head of Treasury for Africa will be a critical member of the Treasury leadership team, reporting directly to the Regional CFO with a dotted line to the Global Head of Treasury. This role includes strategic oversight of all treasury functions across Africa, including FX risk management, cash management, and financing activities. The Regional Head will manage treasury staff across Africa and directly supervise the Africa Operations Teams based in Mumbai, ensuring alignment with regional and global objectives.

Key Responsibility:
Strategic steering of Treasury activities in Africa
- Daily business:
- Close alignment with Treasury Management and Operations Team in Mumbai
- Steering of all treasury activities for approximately 15 countries in Africa
- Monitor performance of Day to Day activities and drive improvement of KPIs for operational treasury in line with business objectives
- Hands-on involvement in operations if needed and act as back up for South Africa operations
- FX Risk Management:
- Oversight and controls over FX risk management
- Understand all FX risk exposure and identify exposure along the value chain
- Develop and implement FX risk management strategies
- Monitor FX market trends, analyze currency risks, and recommend adjustments to hedging strategy and policy
- Manage relationships with FX counterparties and internal FX Trader
- Cash Management:
- Oversight and controls of KPIs
- Identify improvement potential for activities (cash pooling structures and optimize bank account structures to streamline cash flows and optimize interest result)
- Cashflow management and forecast
- Financing:
- Oversight on all financing facilities in Africa
- Evaluate financing options and structures to support business growth and capital requirements for downstream entities
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to execute financing transactions and maintain compliance with debt covenants
- Monitor interest rate risks and implement hedging strategies to mitigate financial exposures
- Lead negotiation for financing solutions for Africa in close alignment with Head of Treasury and Head of Corporate Finance
Drive Business partnering:
- Act as main treasury business partner in Regional Head office in Johannesburg to commercial stakeholders and others (Procurement, Supply, Sales, Trading, IT, etc.). Understand business requirements and proactively identify improvement initiatives
- Focused on developing new solutions to drive business growth
Treasury Compliance oversight for Africa:
- Manage central bank relationships including reporting requirements and yearly renewal of approvals and waivers
- Keep up to date with regulatory changes in Africa and develop a database for Puma Group
Bank relationship management:
- Manage bank relationships in coordination with Head of Treasury and Head of Corporate Finance
- Drive Banking service RFPs and other projects
- Oversight and control over business allocation to bank relationship group
- Maximize use of each bank's capabilities in line with our business requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Master of Science (Finance) or equivalent (CA, MBA, CFA)
- Treasury qualification is a plus
- 15+ years Treasury Experience
- 5+ years Team/People management experience
- Preferably industry experience and good understanding of Trade Finance and structured products
- Preferably strong FX management skills
- Possess strong numerical and analytical skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information
- Microsoft Office proficient
- Treasury management system experience, preferably Kyriba
- Experience working in an international environment and ability to act as project manager
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and make sound decisions under pressure
- Proven track record of driving process improvements, managing complex projects, and delivering results
